Welcome to the highest point on the African continent, just three degrees south of the equator yet with an iconic snow-capped peak that is soon to be melted away. You will climb to its highest point, Uhuru, with a team of porters, guides, and cooks up the route of your choice, taking about 6 days and reaching the summit at dawn. It will be the experience of a lifetime!

The Marangu route is the easiest route to the summit of Kilimanjaro. The hike to the summit and back down can take 5 or 6 days with an acclimatization day at Horombo. At least one guide, several porters to carry your gear, and a cook are essential to making your climb a success on either of these routes.

Important Information
Health
Though the climb up Kilimanjaro is safe and achievable for most fit hikers, it is important that you check with a healthcare provider before deciding to start your climb. There is no way to train for this climb other than living a physically active lifestyle. However, no matter how fit you may be, there is no way of knowing how the altitude will affect you. Even triathletes have succumbed to altitude sickness and you may want to consider bringing along special altitude sickness pills.
